6x6 Project Blog
What I already had.
2023-06-13For the first project of 6x6 I decided to go with the most unique and novel vaporizer idea I had. Last year I made several functional prototypes of it. Although started to hit walls as the cost to continue development went up and my plans for launching altered. I already started reaching out to a couple vaporizer companies and made a list of contacts so I can effectively manage what companies I’ve reached out to before.
Once again, my tasks for month 1:
-
Finish detailed CAD model of my first dry-herb vaporizer concept. Model should have the whole device, electronics and components laid out in a (pre-DFM) manufacturable package, be ready to send out for photo-realistic renderings.
-
Finish compiling my whole contact list of potential companies to partner with.
-
Setup blog to update progress on the development of my vaporizers over the course of the workshop.
- Make 4 blog posts on newly built blog.
Below is the contact list I will be using to manage company communications.
What I already have:
- Rough but functional real-life prototypes. Also started CAD work from a while ago. Although it will need to be remade.
- Since we started last week, I finished collecting all the contact addresses for potential companies to work with. Will be moving onto reaching out next.
- I have two portfolio/business websites that I plan to build the blog in to. Which is where you are reading this.
- Currently working on blog posts as we speak. Although
will be writing my findings on a text note at the end of each work
session.
This is the previous CAD model I had from last year for this vaporizer project. The goal then was different and most the model will need to be thrown out. Last year the goal was to layout the wood body so it could be made at the local Makerspace.
Here are two images of the first two functioning prototypes I made. At the time, I had no way of knowing if the idea was even possible. Using a standard e-cig battery and other assorted parts I was able to verify the concept. If I was to continue with functional prototypes the next steps would be to increase heater strength and allow more variable controls. Although that is not the goal of this challenge/workshop.
