Changing shape and adding internals.

Yesterday was tricky. Running off the energy from yesterday but was not as focus in the morning. I was just stumped on how to get the hot end to fit together and look good. After struggling for a while, I figured out how to modify just the tip of my heater assembly to match the body. Although after doing so it look terrible. I was discouraged and felt a little lost. Although after messing around for a while and stretching my limits I found new proportions that seemed appealing again. With this I started hacking away at the construction.

After a while I notice it may feel nice in the hand by flipping the whole assembly upside down. This started a whole new redesign. Previously I was making a hard outer shell and a chassis that slid in the bottom. This redesign has the shell open at the top. The chassis will slide in from the top and have a screw in the bottom to hold it all together. This may also help with assembly as now the second button is located right at the top.

I also populated a bit of the PCB circuit board to get an idea of the space I’m working with. Although, still needs several critical components on board.

Today mainly focused on getting the 3d print finished to see the new body shape. Talked with my wife after. She doesn’t like the new one although I don’t like the old. She liked how seamless the old print was with no step to the hot tip. May need to rethink my body shape. Maybe back to a donut shaped tip idea I had considered. Just harder to make it work construction wise but not impossible.
